GENERAL INFORMATION

Choquequirao trek, is a trek of pure adventure, we will get to know these amazing citadel which is also known as “The sacred sister of Machupicchu”, this is due to the fact that it shares similar structural and architectonical features as Machupicchu. The word “Choquequirao” means Golden Cradle in Quechua, it is an old Inca City located in the foothills of the Salqantay Mountain. In this tour, we will get to know this fantastic archeological site which contains buildings and terraces distributed in different levels. Due to the fame acquired by this citadel lately; the peruvian government has made efforts to clean up and modernize the infrastructure and access to this site. This in order to turn Choquequirao in another wonderful alternative to learn about the Incas’s culture.

ITINERARY

1 Day

  • Pick up the passenger very early in the morning. We embark on our trip and drive until we arrive to the town of Cachora. We prepare ourselves for our trekking upon arrival to Cachora.
  • As we walk, we can enjoy the views of the snowcapped mountains of “Padrayoc” and “Wayna Cachora”. We can also observe the Apurimac canyon and its amazing depth.
  • Continuamos la caminata por los asentamientos "La Colmena, Cocamasana, Mirador de Capulliyoc" hasta llegar hasta "Chiquisca" lugar en el cual tendremos la cena y será nuestro primer campamento.

2 Day

  • We prepare for our second day of trekking once we finish breakfast. We walk uphill until we reach “Playa Rosalinda”, we keep on walking until “Santa Rosa” from here we continue until we arrive to “Marampata”.
  • We have lunch in Marampata and after a short break, we head to the “Archeological complex of Choquequirao”, once we arrive here, we start visiting the site’s most important locations. We will have enough time for a group guided visit of the archeological complex and plenty of time to take amazing pictures.
  • Once the guided tour is over, we head back to Marampata where we will have dinner and camp for the day.

3 Day

  • We start with the descent walk once we have finished breakfast,
  • We will walk for about 6 hours enjoying the views of the área, we pass by the locations of “Santa Rosa”, “Playa Rosalinda” until we arrive to “Chiquisca”.
  • We will have dinner upon arrival to Chiquisca and camp for the night.

4 Day

  • After breakfast, we start our fourth day of trekking.
  • On this day, we will just walk downhill. We keep descending until we reach “Cachora”. This section should take us about 6 hours to complete.
  • Once we arrive to Cachora, the transportation will be awaiting us. We take the tourist bus and ride back to the city of Cusco.

Lima – Capital city of Peru.

Lima is located on the central coast of the country. The city is on the shores of the pacific ocean and has an estimated 8, 5 million inhabitants. On January the 18th 1535, the city was founded and was given the name of ”King´s city”. Nowadays, the city is the political, financial, and cultural center of the country. Lima is the third most populous city in Hispanic America and also ranks fifth in the most populous cities in South America.

Cusco – Capital city of the Inca Empire.

Cusco o “Qosqo” which in Quechua means ”Navel of the world”, is a city located in the southeast part of the country and also situated in the eastern part of the Andes mountain chain. Cusco is known as the ”Historic capital of the country”. This is because it was the capital of the Inca Empire. The city boasts several churches, palaces, and squares in baroque and neoclassical styles. All these attractions make Cusco the main touristic attraction in Peru. UNESCO has declared Cusco as a ”World Heritage Site” in 1983.
