GENERAL INFORMATION

This tour of Corpus Christi, is a beautiful tour where the main goal is to allow our visitors to get in touch and learn some more with the traditions, customs, and festivities that take place in the City of Cusco. Corpus Christi is one of the most important and colorful festivities of the city it is a perfect example of the blend of food, dance, music and faith.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • After breakfast time, passengers will be picked up and we will head to the main square to take part of this incredible Festivity.
  • Once we arrive to the main square, we will be able to appreciate how the different saints and virgins start arriving from their different churches, the saints and virgins are carried on the shoulders of the carguyoc (Person in charge of the festivity for the saint), Stewards, dancers and other pilgrims.
  • At the same time we will have a brief explanation by our guide about the details of each saint and virgin, we will learn about the history, attire, customs and more.
  • We also get to see and appreciate the passing of the main cathedrals silver chariot which has been beautifully crafted and ornamented with 725 silver frames and 20 rubies.
  • Next, we will try the typical dish for this festivity: “Chiri uchu“ which is a traditional dish from the Incas time.

Lima – Capital city of Peru.

Lima is located on the central coast of the country. The city is on the shores of the pacific ocean and has an estimated 8, 5 million inhabitants. On January the 18th 1535, the city was founded and was given the name of ”King´s city”. Nowadays, the city is the political, financial, and cultural center of the country. Lima is the third most populous city in Hispanic America and also ranks fifth in the most populous cities in South America.

Cusco – Capital city of the Inca Empire.

Cusco o “Qosqo” which in Quechua means ”Navel of the world”, is a city located in the southeast part of the country and also situated in the eastern part of the Andes mountain chain. Cusco is known as the ”Historic capital of the country”. This is because it was the capital of the Inca Empire. The city boasts several churches, palaces, and squares in baroque and neoclassical styles. All these attractions make Cusco the main touristic attraction in Peru. UNESCO has declared Cusco as a ”World Heritage Site” in 1983.
