GENERAL INFORMATION

In this tour; Salkantay – Machupicchu we will take the route to the Salkantay mountain which is a magnificent glacier with awesome views of the nearby Apus. This is the second most popular trekking route and serves also as an alternate route to the “Inca Trail”. This route allows us to arrive to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and for many years has been used by the fans of mountaineering. We, at IANDEANTOURS want to put this experience at the disposal of all our visitors.

LIVE THE EXPERIENCE

ITINERARY

1 Day

  • Pickup very early in the morning. We begin our trip and drive through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo to finally arrive to Mollepata.
  • We arrive to Mollepata at around 7:30 am, a basic breakfast is provided and once finished, we continue to Soraypampa. This is the starting point for our trekking and we walk uphill for about 2 hours until we arrive to “Humantay Lake”, we make a small break here with enough time to enjoy the views and take pictures.
  • We descend to “Quiswarniyoc” Where we will set camp and sleep for the night.

2 Day

  • We start the day with breakfast. Once finished, we begin our 4 hour trekking from Quiswarniyoc to “Abra Salkantay” (4650 m.a.s.l), This is the highest point of our trip.
  • Once we have rested and enjoyed theviews of the área, we start walking downhill. We walk for about 2 hours until we reach “Huayracmachay” (3800 m.a.s.l). Here we take a break in order to have lunch.
  • We continue our descent until we reach “Chaullay” (2900 m.a.s.l). Here we will set camp and sleep for the night.

3 Day

  • After we finish breakfast, we get ready to start our trekking for the day.
  • We walk for about 5 hours until we reach “Sayhuayaco Beach” which is already a tropical place. Here we take a break and have lunch.
  • From Sayhuayaco, we will take a bus and arrive to the town of Santa Teresa, Here we will set camp and sleep for the night.
  • An optional activity to do here is to visit the Thermal Baths of Cocalmayo (Not included).

4 Day

  • We start the day with breakfast and get ready for the trip.
  • We leave “Santa Teresa” and head to “Hidroelectrica”, the walk takes approximately 3 hours
  • We will have lunch once we arrive to “Hidroelecrica”.
  • We resume the walk once we have finished lunch. This walk will take about 2 hours until we arrive to the town of Aguas Calientes.
  • Here, we will have dinner with the whole group and talk about the planning for the next day
  • Lodging will be arranged so that you can sleep for the night.

5 Day

  • Early in the morning, we start our walk. We start in Aguas Calientes and go uphill until we reach the sanctuary of Machupicchu.
  • Once we arrive to Machupicchu, we will start our tour visiting the most important sites of the Sanctuary.
  • There will be enough time for the guided tour and to take pictures, once this is over, we will proceed to take the bus to Aguas Calientes where you can have lunch (Not included)
  • We will head to the train station where we will catch the train that will take us to the town of Ollantaytambo.
  • Once we arrive to the train station, we will pick you up and drive you to the city of Cusco in a touristic bus.

Lima – Capital city of Peru.

Lima is located on the central coast of the country. The city is on the shores of the pacific ocean and has an estimated 8, 5 million inhabitants. On January the 18th 1535, the city was founded and was given the name of ”King´s city”. Nowadays, the city is the political, financial, and cultural center of the country. Lima is the third most populous city in Hispanic America and also ranks fifth in the most populous cities in South America.

Cusco – Capital city of the Inca Empire.

Cusco o “Qosqo” which in Quechua means ”Navel of the world”, is a city located in the southeast part of the country and also situated in the eastern part of the Andes mountain chain. Cusco is known as the ”Historic capital of the country”. This is because it was the capital of the Inca Empire. The city boasts several churches, palaces, and squares in baroque and neoclassical styles. All these attractions make Cusco the main touristic attraction in Peru. UNESCO has declared Cusco as a ”World Heritage Site” in 1983.
