GENERAL INFORMATION

The tour of Qoylloriti is a pilgrimage tour in dedication to ”Lord of Qoyloritti” which means ”The Lord of the Shiny Snow”. This tour is a procession that is practiced by the local believers and takes place every year. In this festivity the dancers called ”Pabluchas” and the rest of the villagers dressed in their colorful costumes, dance and chant prayers until they arrive to the Chapel of ”Lord of Qoylloriti”, which is located in the ”Sinankara” Mountain, located in the town of Mawayani. This tour of ”Lord of Qoylloriti” is a very different one to the traditional tours since you will see traditions, customs and the deep faith of the locals that the locals have which they express on their chants and prayers.

ITINERARY

1 DAY

  • Passengers are picked up very early in the morning, we drive to the town of Tinki and then head to Mahuayani where we should arrive at around 3:00 p.m. During this trip, we will pass by the towns of Urcos, we then ascend to Qatqa, Ocongate is next and we drive by the capital of Tinki.
  • Once we arrive to this town, we begin our trekking to Mahuayani which should last about 7 hours.
  • In the afternoon, we will have a chance to visit the local market.

2 DAY

  • After breakfast, we prepare ourselves to begin our trekking to the "Qoylloriti Sanctuary", which is located at the highest point of this area.
  • Once we arrive to the sanctuary, we will set camp here. In the afternoon, we will have time off for personal activities in the area.
  • In the evening, we will take part of the ceremony, which takes place in the chapel.

3 DAY

  • After Breakfast, our day starts heading to the sanctuary, this day will be dedicatd to observe and participate fully in all the activities dedicated to "Lord of Qoylloriti".
  • The first activity will be to pay a visit to the "Alacitas" Market , here we will witness how people participate buying products and things in miniature with the belief that these objects will be blessed by "Lord of Qoylloriti"
  • At around noon, we will take part of the mass in the main hall of the chapel, there will be another mass right after ours, and that will be for the "Pabluchas"
  • In the afternoon, a processsion will take place for "Lord of Tayancani" and the Virgin Mary.
  • In the evening after having dinner, we will enjoy the fireworks, which is a traditional activity during these festivities.

4 DAY

  • After breakfast, we prepare ourselves to start our day.
  • the first activity in which we will partake, is the mass for blessings, this mass starts around mid-morning.
  • At around noon, we can see how the procession of the 24 dance companies march by accompanied by all their pilgrims.
  • Once the procession is over, we leave the sanctuary and the calvary of Machucruz starts, on this tradition, we will pass by the "Kumukasa" lake and the areas of Algamarina and Yanacocha, we will arrive here at approximately at 6:00 pm.
  • We will head to Tayancani at night.

5 DAY

  • On this day, after the amazing pilgrimage, we will await for the ceremony of "The Sunrise".
  • Right after the ceremony, we will start our walk downhill towards Tayancani to receive the blessing in the sanctuary.
  • Around mid morning, we will have the mass for the day, after the mass, we will walk to the mountain then we will walk downhill to Ocongate, where we will have lunch.
  • In the afternoon, our transport will be ready to take us back to the city of Cusco. Arrival time at approximately 6:00 p.m

Lima – Capital city of Peru.

Cusco – Capital city of the Inca Empire.

Cusco o “Qosqo” which in Quechua means ”Navel of the world”, is a city located in the southeast part of the country and also situated in the eastern part of the Andes mountain chain. Cusco is known as the ”Historic capital of the country”. This is because it was the capital of the Inca Empire. The city boasts several churches, palaces, and squares in baroque and neoclassical styles. All these attractions make Cusco the main touristic attraction in Peru. UNESCO has declared Cusco as a ”World Heritage Site” in 1983.
